Alumni Startup Hyliion Wins DOE’s 2016 Cleantech Prize

Mario Avila (E&TIM ’13/MechE ’14) and the Hyliion team won the Clean Tech prize of $50,000 from the Department of Energy for their SMART Suspension System, an add-on module for tractor-trailers that captures otherwise wasted energy to reduce fuel consumption. The Hyliion team also placed first in Columbia University’s Venture Competition’s Global Challenge.
